How the account works
-
Create
Setup is designed to use your voucher to create the account, never to get back in.
-
Save
Write the twelve words down and confirm three of them. voidFS is designed never to store the phrase or show it again.
-
Sign in
On a new Mac, enter the recovery phrase. A Mac you already use opens the account without it.
Keep the twelve words to yourself.
Never share them. Anyone with the words can open your account and your encrypted files.
Nobody can reset them. If you lose the phrase and every trusted Mac, nobody can restore access, not even us. A trusted Mac can’t rebuild a lost phrase.
What else to know
- Account ID
- Public. It’s designed so knowing it doesn’t grant access to your account or files.
- Other traces
- Your IP address, payments, support messages and retained metadata can still be linked to a person.
- Waitlist email
- Only for beta invitations. It isn’t tied to your voidFS account.
- Billing email
- For paid plans later. Optional, and never used to sign in.
voidFS is in development. A security review comes before release.
